Less Belly Fat Is Good For Eyesight

MyHealthCentral had an interesting news item from a study conducted at the University of Melbourne, Australia. This study suggested that people who lose weight around their middle, can decrease their odds of developing age-related macular degeneration (AMD), which is the leading cause of severe vision loss among elderly people.

With all the emphasis on Obesity these days, this may be another good reason to lose weight. This will also motivate me to work harder on my own diet over the holidays, and not “fall off the wagon’, when tempted by all the holiday treats. I will remember to eat nutritional meals, exercise, and stay on my diet.

These researchers looked at how changes in weight affect developing AMD for 6 years in over 12,000 adults between 45 and 64 years old, so it was pretty inclusive.

During this period the average waist-to-hip ratio increased by 2 percent. People with a 3 percent or greater drop in waist-to-hip ratio, the odds of AMD fell significantly compared to people with stable weight.

Those who were obese at the start of the study, and lost belly fat, reduced their AMD risk even more.

P.S. If you are like me and need an extra boost to stay on track with your weight loss program, click here and check out these products. I found a coupon code: vip5off that can be used to keep costs down, during the holiday season.
